Our take

Who it suits

Wake up between the dunes and the trails: two boardwalks take you straight to the sand, and the park's bikeshare is free. Perch for steak and seafood, Foodcraft for family meals, a coffee and wine bar in the lobby and the Dragonfly Bar & Grill by the pool mean you never have to drive for dinner, and there's no resort fee. Everyone checking in must be 25, and self-parking is $15 a day.

Good for

  • A beach reached by boardwalk, with no high-rises next door
  • Biking the state park trails on free bikeshare bikes
  • Four places to eat and drink in the hotel
  • No resort fee
  • An adults-only pool (21+)

Skip if

  • You're under 25
  • You're bringing a pet
  • You need a rollaway bed; there are none
